Process Engineering

From Waste to Renewable Energy

Six integrated stages that transform organic waste into clean biomethane, energy, and bio-fertilizer — with zero waste to landfill.

Step 01
Feedstock Reception & Pre-Treatment
Organic waste streams are received, characterized, and pre-processed. Solid-liquid separation, size reduction, and contaminant removal prepare the feedstock for optimal digestion.
Livestock Waste Crop Residues Food Waste Industrial Effluent

Step 02
Mixing & Conditioning
Feedstocks are blended to achieve optimal C:N ratios and total solids content. Temperature conditioning ensures ideal micro-biological activity before entering the digester.
C:N Optimization pH Balancing Thermal Conditioning

Step 03
Anaerobic Digestion
Core biological conversion in sealed mesophilic (37 °C) or thermophilic (55 °C) reactors. Microorganisms break down organics over 20–30 days, producing raw biogas and nutrient-rich digestate.

Step 04
Biogas Capture & Upgrading
Raw biogas is captured from sealed reactor covers and passed through H₂S removal and dehumidification, then upgraded via membrane separation or PSA to achieve 97%+ biomethane purity.

Step 05
Energy Dispatch
Purified biomethane is routed to CHP engines for combined heat & power, compressed to Bio-CNG for vehicle and industrial fuel, or injected directly into the national gas grid.
CHP Generation Bio-CNG Grid Injection
05
KBR BioResources Energy Dispatch — Renewable Biogas Energy Output
Step 06
Digestate & Resource Recovery
Nutrient-rich digestate is separated into liquid and solid fractions. Liquid bio-fertilizer is applied directly to farmland; solid fractions are composted — completing the circular loop with zero waste.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about CBG plants, biogas engineering, and working with KBR Bio Resources.

A CBG (Compressed Biogas) plant — also called a Bio-CNG plant — converts organic waste such as livestock manure, crop residues, and food waste into compressed biogas through anaerobic digestion. The raw biogas is purified to remove CO₂ and impurities, then compressed to 200–250 bar and used as vehicle fuel or industrial gas. It is identical in composition to fossil CNG but 100% renewable and carbon-neutral.
KBR Bio Resources' plants process a wide range of organic feedstocks including livestock waste (cattle and poultry manure), crop residues (paddy straw, sugarcane bagasse), food and agro-processing waste, municipal solid waste (organic fraction), and industrial effluents. The optimal feedstock mix is engineered to achieve the best C:N ratio for maximum biogas yield.
CBG plants are typically viable from 5 TPD (tonnes per day) of feedstock input and above. KBR Bio Resources conducts a detailed feasibility study to determine the optimum plant capacity based on your specific feedstock availability, land, and local market conditions.
The typical project timeline from feasibility to commissioning is 12 to 18 months, depending on plant size, site conditions, and regulatory approvals. This covers DPR preparation (1–2 months), civil construction (4–6 months), mechanical and electrical installation (3–4 months), and commissioning and handover (1–2 months).
Yes. The Indian government actively supports CBG production through the SATAT scheme (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation), under which Oil Marketing Companies are obligated to purchase CBG at guaranteed prices. Additional support is available through MNRE grants, priority sector lending, and various state-level subsidies. KBR Bio Resources assists clients in applying for all applicable incentives.
Raw biogas from anaerobic digestion typically contains 55–65% methane and 35–45% CO₂. Bio-CNG (CBG) is raw biogas that has been purified to 97%+ methane purity using VPSA or PSA systems, then compressed to 200–250 bar — making it functionally equivalent to fossil CNG but 100% renewable. Bio-CNG can be sold directly to OMCs, used as vehicle fuel, or supplied to industrial gas networks.
KBR Bio Resources' VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) and PSA gas purification systems consistently produce CBG with 97%+ methane purity, meeting BIS standards and automotive CNG quality requirements for sale under the SATAT scheme and use as vehicle fuel.
Yes. KBR Bio Resources provides complete turnkey (EPC) project delivery — from initial site assessment and feasibility study through detailed engineering, civil construction, equipment supply, installation, commissioning, and post-commissioning support. Clients receive a fully operational, production-ready plant with all systems validated and handed over.
